Complaints against Solicitors
At Oracle Law we provide legal advice and representation to solicitors facing complaints from clients or being investigated by their professional regulating body. Being members of the profession ourselves we are acutely aware of the difficulties faced by solicitors and sensitive manner within which such matters should be handled.
All complaints against Scottish solicitors firstly go to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC). However, the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007 prohibits the SLCC from considering complaints before they have been raised with the solicitor in question. Therefore, a client who has a complaint about you or your firm will first need to raise their concern with you firstly and you will be expected to take reasonable steps to resolve them. If however, you have taken reasonable steps in an attempt to resolve the grievance of your client but to no avail then they will be fully entitled to make a formal complaint against you.
