John Carruthers qualified as a solicitor in 1992. John was called to the Scottish Bar in 2001. In 2009 John left the bar to set up Oraclelaw. John is a solicitor advocate with full rights of audience in the Court of Session, the High Court of Justiciary and the Supreme Court.
John has over twenty years experience conducting commercial, criminal, personal injury and divorce litigation. John now focuses on commercial and corporate disputes.
John is retained by a number of SMEs as their general legal counsel. John is also instructed by a large number of solicitors firms directly to provide his expertise to their own clients. John also acts personally for a number of solicitors, accountancy and solicitors firms.
John regularly appears in the Court of Session, the Sheriff Court, the Lands Tribunal and the Land Court.
John has a long standing interest in competition law and drafted the Which? Supercomplaint in respect of the Legal Services Market in Scotland which ultimately resulted in the Legal Services Bill which became an Act of Parliament in 2010. John has acted for clients in matters involving the O.F.T. and the Competition Commission.
A recent entry in the Legal 500 notes his “very thorough and conscientious” approach to his work and compliments his negotiating skills.
